2008 was such a wonderful year for us here at the Isotope, and personally was perhaps the single happiest and most fun year of my entire life. Forgive me for being just a bit cheesy here at the end of the year, but you fine folks really do make running the Isotope the greatest of all possible experiences for me, I am truly blessed to have found such a wonderful extended family in all of you. I wish you all an incredible New Years eve tonight!

But enough of the sappy stuff, let's talk comics, shall we? We've got lots of post-Christmas restocks hitting this week in several different waves, and despite the holiday shipping delays new comics are on their way and will be hitting this Friday. The holiday shipping schedule and the Isotope's holiday schedule are as follows:

Wed, December 31st. New Years Eve.
11am - 7pm

Thurs, Jan 1st. New Years Day.
(closed for Life Maintenance)

Fri, Jan 2nd. New Comics Day @ Last!
11am - 7pm

While I'm out of town for the weekend on a rocking trip to the Small Press Expo on the opposite coast, here are the the awesome guest masters of ceremonies who will be hosting all you fine folks while I'm gone...

Jason McNamara
Featured this Friday

Many of you already know Jason from several in-store events we've thrown for his books over the years, but for the rest of you let me introduce you to one of my favorite local comic authors.

Author of both the incredible original graphic novels Continuity and the Xeric Award winning First Moon, Mister McNamara is also one of the world's foremost Ramones devotees I have ever met. He has stories about shows he's attended that will dirty your sheets and bleach your brain.

Be warned: Jason is a recovering Spider-Man addict. Get him talking trivia at your own risk!

Josh Richardson
Featured this Saturday & Sunday

You all already know the Isotope's beloved Cultural Attaché who regularly struts his stuff on Sundays and we couldn't be more thrilled to have Josh rocking the shop for a double-dose weekend as only the man himself could do it!

Everybody knows this man knows the funnybooks, and has been responsible for the coloring, lettering, and behind-the-scenes production of many books you probably already own (*cough* The Goon, Monster Attack Network, Savage Dragon *cough*!)... but what you may not know is that Mister Richardson's brain is jam-packed with secret videogame information! As a full-time Core Tester for LucasArts. That's right, he gets checks from the Isotope and George Lucas, baby!

Stop on in and show these boys some love while I'm out of town, won't you?

The Isotope is ecstatic to be ground-zero for Planet Earth's only month-long original art gallery showing of every single page and cover from JH Williams III's amazing panel-shattering Batman arc with Grant Morrison. Including the yet-to-be-published Batman #669! If you haven't seen these pages already I can promise you that your jaw will drop when you do...

Mark your calendars for our massive opening reception bash with the man himself on Saturday, September 29th. Starting at 8pm and going through to the midnight hour. And yes, pages of Mister Williams' beautiful artwork will be available for purchase!

Ahhhh... it's good to be part of the Isotope family, isn't it?

Oh, Curse You UPS and Your Vacation-Time!
Labor Day Bumps Books Back a Day

While it might sound nice in theory for the US to have a seven-day Labor Day vacation like they do in China, but honestly, that wouldn't work for my staff and I here at the Isotope. Frankly, we're all a bit too in love with manning the shop 'round these parts for that much leisure. And more importantly...

We need our comics!

With that in mind, let's ponder together all the happiness this week's is sure to bring with a look inside Comic-Santa and his helpers weekly bag of goodies, shall we?

It's impossible to not get excited about the new debuts tomorrow... Lobster Johnson & the Iron Prometheus, , Rick Remender's hot new horror mini-series Sorrow, Peter Milligan and Max Fiumara's fairly excellent looking Infinity Inc, and a good one for us Tony Stark fans in Iron Man: Enter the Mandarin (which has a slamming Rocketeer tribute cover you won't want to miss).

For the graphic novel crowd we've looking at the fabulously beautiful Laika original graphic novel, the long-awaited DMZ vol 3: Public Works softcover (why aren't there more of these out already? Please, DC?), an incredibly brutal Punisher MAX Vol 8: Widowmaker softcover, and the beyond-essential-reading-you-must-have-this-on-your-bookshelf Jack Kirby's Fourth World Omnibus Vol 2 hardcover.

But just because it's a great week for new series and graphic novels doesn't mean there isn't plenty of on-going series hitting this week to bring a smile to all our collective faces. Howabout the latest issue of one of my favorite series running today The Boys, Mike Carey and Jock's utterly great Faker (check out that awesome cover!), more sexy sleuthing in Madame Mirage, the second issue of Warren Ellis' Doktor Sleepless, the beginning of a we're-crossing-our-fingers-they-don't-eff-this-up "One More Day" Spidey arc in Amazing Spider-Man, a kick ass new issue of Scalped, more cool Action Philosophers, or the next installment of the quite frankly brilliant Buffy Season Eight?

And that's just scratching the surface here!

Go ahead and click those links for lots of previews, reviews, and interviews... and check out the full shipping list for much, much more!

Connecting You & Your Comics
Around Thanksgiving Holiday

Thanksgiving. It's a time of family, friends, and a great big feast. A holiday all about good food and good company? You know we're definitely behind that!

But if there's one thing we don't like about the holiday season, it's when those folks who distribute our weekly reads shift and shuffle our shipment days around to accomodate all that revelry. And we're certainly not alone, our phone's been ringing off the hook and our in-box is burning up with one question, "when are the new books coming in?"

We're grinning from ear to ear that we get to give you some news to be truly thankful for... both this week and next, new sequential art entertainment will be flooding in the doors on and at our the regularly scheduled times! And with the exception of the day of Thanksgiving itself, the Isotope will be here for you during our regular hours to help make sure you have no problem at all getting the books you need.

This Wednesday (Nov 22nd) sees a massive shipment including Hot Mexican Love Comics by Rafael Navarro, Mike Milo, Angry Bob Bowen, Albert Calleros, and many more. Allan Heinberg & Terry Dodson's brilliantly beautiful Wonder Woman #3. The I've-waited-so-long-it's-practically-killing-me Punisher War Journal #1. The outrageously offensive The Boys #5 by Darick Robertson & Garth Ennis. Another edition of the Isotopic favorite Dwight T. Albatross Presents: The Goon Noir. And, yes, Ferocious J, even that Y The Last Man Vol 8 you've been waiting for!
