Place Your Votes for SF Weekly's Best of the Bay & Celebrate Why We All Love San Francisco
I opened the Isotope back in 2001, in one of the most expensive cities in the entire country, during the economic devastation of the dot-com crash, with a truly pathetic amount of start-up resources. SF had no shortage of other places to buy comics, I'd never owned or operated a business before, and there was no such thing as a "comic book lounge" except for the one in my imagination. None of this should have worked. But here we are 8 years later and the shop is still steadily growing every month despite it all. I might have more grey hairs and I've probably burned a decade off my lifespan to do it... but it worked. It really did.
Because of you.
This is a city built on dreams, on hopes, on passion, by foolhardy people just like you and me who believe if we want to make the world a better place and just try hard enough we can do just that. We can change the world around us. We can make our technology better, our social politics better, our friendships better, our goofing off better... and yes, we can even make something as humble as our comic book stores better.
Join us in celebrating the people and places that make SF great by voting in the SF Bay Guardian's Best of the Bay awards. It means a lot to small business owners like myself. As is tradition, here's a few places we adore to get you started...

Over breakfast the Isotope staff whipped up a set of classic camera pictures for our respective dad's to pin up on their bulletin boards for Father's Day. Who doesn't love a little Lomo Minitar in their lives?

From our very own manage-your-pull-list application with our friends at Comixology, to being the only comic book store featured in the Lonely Planet Guide to San Francisco app (regular $16, free for a limited time!)... the Isotope is all over your sexy hand-held device!
Of course, if you don't have an iPhone you can still join in on the fun by dialing directly into the Comixology website or finding us in the print edition of Lonely Planet: San Francisco guidebook too. And for those of you who really want a treat seeing where the Isotope has been popping up recently, you can also check out the shop in this awesome French travel guide too, translated quite roughly and hilariously for your reading pleasure!Labels: Apple, Comixology, glory, iPhone, Lonely Planet, San Francisco
