Forgive my giddiness but I'm really just soooooo excited about WonderCon this year (and utterly jealous of you folks who are already there)! Lots of our favorite creators are in town, so we definitely urge you to check out Ed Brubaker, Brian Azzarello, James Robinson, Jill Thompson, Matt Fraction, Dave Gibbons, and hundreds more great comic making folks (along with at least one sexy space lady plus fellow scorpio and classic car lover The Fonz!
For those out of towners among you looking to stop in for our Saturday night event or to just visit the universe's sexiest comic store... here's a couple maps to help you get from wherever you are now to here!

I've been trying to find the time between putting together this and this and making these and these and doing this and this and dealing with these and these to write to you all about the bad, bad news we've been hearing about our beloved Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar.
As many of you know, this famous tiki bar is an amazing San Francisco historical monument that we here at the Isotope adore. For the last 6 years it has always been one of the major stops on our twice-annual Tiki Bar Tours, it's where we often take our favorite celebrity superstars when they come to visit... and there is an indoor lake in that place and it rains inside!
There really is no place else like it on Earth.

This news of the Tonga Room possibly getting torn down to build some lame condos has been buzzing through my in-box and really breaking my heart for a couple weeks now. Folks have rallied to the cause to save this landmark, but at this point it's impossible to know if it has helped. I won't lie to you, I fear the worst dear friends. So for you out-of-towners in for WonderCon who are planning to joining us for 2009's Tiki Tour with Darick Robertson (the Tonga is our first stop of the night), this may indeed be your very last time to see this gorgeous and amazing tiki bar before it goes away.
(sigh).
Like my beloved Gobbler Restaurant in the far off land of Wisconsin before it, I know a good kitchy thing when I see it and want to show the Tonga Room all the love I can while I still can. So I'm going to do my best to spend as much time and create as many memories of this fantastic place as I can before it is gone. I hope you do too.

This year our featured special guest host is Darick Robertson, artist of The Boys and Transmetropolitan!
We'll be starting out early meeting up at 111 Minna for the CBLDF party w/ our pal Dave Johnson and then kicking off the tour in high style with a first tiki stop at the amazing Tonga Room at 9pm. Judging by the folks who we've spoken to about this event already I have a feeling this will be the best Tiki Tour ever!
We've been hosting semi-annual secret-route tours of San Francisco's tiki bars since 2001 but don't want you to feel left out, so for those among you who have yet to experience one of the Isotope's famous tiki tours hosted by some of the coolest cats in the comic industry, feel free to check out these great photos from the legendary 2006 tiki bar madness tour or video from our 2007 tour with comic author Adam Beechen and our friends at iFanboy!Labels: Darick Robertson, tiki bars, WonderCon

Kicking off a month long 100 BULLETS gallery show of Dave Johnson's original cover art at the Isotope with one hell of a huge bash. That's right... 30 days of 100 BULLETS covers will be gracing the Isotope's gallery, and we're launching it off in high style with Brian Azzarello and Dave Johnson.
If you've been to one of our events in the past you know how we do what we do. Not suggested to folks who don't like crowds.
