Alan Moore, Fake Comic Ads, Zombie SF, Gwar TV Criminal Blogs, Wimpy Superheroes & Isotope Soap
Apparently people are noticing the increased Isotope Communique productivity recently because our mailbag is overflowing with more entertainment goodness than we know what to do with... so what better time to launch a new semi-regular feature: Isotope Mailbag Link-a-Palooza? Prepare your browsers, people, for some truly inspirational time wasting!
First up, Isotope Enforcer Jared nearly punches us in the head for not yet linking to Slave Pit TV Gwar's weekly on-line television show which has been featuring some great behind-the-scenes looks at the band's costume workshop. And just to prove he's no one-link-wonder, Jared also clues us in on this video of Marvel Comics' parade float in 1989 featuring Melba Moore. After seeing this video Jared tells us "I think I may have turned to DC if I saw this in '89."
Trip from Sauce (our favorite restaurant anywhere, but you already knew that didn't you?) writes in with a hilarious link to the Top Ten Un-Manliest Superheroes and asks the immortal question "But who made them experts?" to which we reply "It's on the internet isn't it? They must be experts!"
Author Ed Brubaker and blog maestro Alan David Doane drop us a tandem lines to let us know about the new blog dedicated to Brubaker & Phillips' up-coming Criminal and about this chuckle-inducing fake Criminal ad. If you've read Isotope favorite Sleeper by Brubaker & Phillips you'll know why we're all so excited about their up-coming project!
Isotope regular Emily Stackhouse fills our actual mailbox with a letter letting us know the DC Comics stamps are now available here in SF while Promethea and V For Vendetta fan Heather H. commands we rush over to YouTube to watch this terrific 10 part Alan Moore interview. A tip of the Isotope scotch glass out to Heather and Emily for keeping us in mind!
Brian Walsh aka The Party Cow made sure we had an advance heads-up about the latest San Francisco zombie flash mob, which just so happened to coincide with Kirsten's birthday so we ended up missing out on the brain-eating fun. But thanks to Victor for bringing in his photos from the event. Beware of the flesh eaters Apple Store!
And last but not least David Donaldson writes in to tell us to turn those browsers back towards YouTube for the recently re-discovered Geza X "Isotope Soap" video. Those of you who are tuned into the west-coast hardcore scene will know Geza as the legendary producer on some truly great albums from Dead Kennedys, Avengers, The Germs, and Black Flag. The video's a rough show but it's absolutely great to see them performing that ultra-catchy song we'd long since forgotten about... and plus, Geza's got some crazy-cool hair!
Want to be part of a future Isotope Mailing Bag Link-a-Palooza? You know where to send those emails, right?
