Got Favorite Superhero?
Want to See Them Get a Beat-Down by THE BOYS?

San Francisco, CA - In celebration of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's upcoming Wildstorm series THE BOYS about a group of CIA agents who police the superhero community artist Darick Robertson wanted to do an in-store event... but not just any event. He wanted to do something special for comic fans the world over. He wanted to do something that would reflect the rough-and-tumble spirit of THE BOYS and give him an excuse to draw all his favorite superheroes in action.

Phoning up San Francisco's Isotope - the comic book lounge, the shop that made unique and outrageous in-store events and promotions famous, Darick got the store's enthusiastic proprietor James Sime on the line and asked him one simple question, "James, who's your favorite superhero?"

"Uh, Doctor Strange, I guess," was Sime's reply.

"Well, how would you like to see Doctor Strange get a hole punched right through his skinny head by one of THE BOYS?" Robertson quipped back... and a truly unique in-store and promotion was born.

Everybody's got a favorite superhero, and chances are if you've been following comics for any period of time you've seen the iconoclast artist Darick Robertson drawing them. Whether it was in Robertson and Greg Rucka's controversial WOLVERINE re-launch, or JUSTICE LEAGUE with Mark Waid, or cleverly hidden in the backgrounds of Robertson and Warren Ellis' TRANSMETROPOLITAN, Darick Robertson has left his mark on nearly every major comic book icon of the last fifty years. And to help launch THE BOYS in high style Robertson will be choosing ten lucky winners, from anywhere on the globe, and drawing them an original sketch of their favorite superhero... getting a brutal beat-down by one member of THE BOYS.

"Getting to be part of the festivities is easy, just send us an email and you're entered!" Isotope Special Projects Director Kirsten Baldock said, "But because we're going to be mailing these sketches out to the winners, everyone needs to make sure they include their name and mailing address. And most importantly, when you send those emails in make sure you include your favorite superhero's name in the following sentence '(character's name) is my favorite superhero, and I want to see him or her beat down by THE BOYS!' Send those emails in to isotopepromotions@gmail.com"

With the release of THE BOYS mere days away and an Isotope in-store celebration this Wednesday, comic fans are going to want to get their entries in as soon as possible. "Darick's going to be doing five of these drawings during our event so if you come to our launch party you can watch as he draws them in person," Sime said in his best radio DJ voice, "But we realize most folks aren't in the SF Bay Area so the following Monday we'll be presenting a video from the event on the Isotope website... everybody gets to see as Darick makes the carnage come alive before your very eyes!"

As if fans needed more reason to come to the launch event at the Isotope in person, Robertson's decided to sweeten the deal by choosing one attendee to be drawn into an upcoming issue of THE BOYS. "I want people to come out and see me during this event so I'll be bringing my camera and we're going to pick one person to be featured in the book itself! It's every comic fan's dream!"

"Getting to have Darick draw your favorite superhero get beat up is just so sick and twisted, who wouldn't be excited to be part of it?" said Sime with a laugh, "It might be Batman getting his back broken all over again, or Captain America getting his hand shoved down the garbage disposal, but think about how lucky you'll feel when you get to hang that one of a kind piece of Darick Robertson artwork with your favorite superhero getting knocked the heck out... all in the spirit of THE BOYS and all part of the fun of it!"

So Mister and Missus Comic Fan, get thinking about who your absolute favorite comic book superhero is, find the sense of humor to put their name in the sentence: (character's name) is my favorite superhero, and I want to see him or her beat down by THE BOYS! include your name, your mailing address, and send your entries by Wednesday August 16th to isotopepromotions@gmail.com

"I love superheroes, but this is just too fun of an idea not to do!" said Robertson, "So who you people got? Spider-Man? Batman? Matter-Eater Lad? Lobster Johnson? Aunt May possessed by Captain Universe? Bring 'em on and watch 'em get beat down by THE BOYS!"

THE BOYS by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson from Wildstorn is in stores on August 16th 2006
